My favorite match up yesterday was Jacksonville at Buffalo with a +1 1/2 spread favoring the Bills. The matchup was interesting to me for many reasons. First of all, the Bills first year general manager Buddy Nix released quarter back Trent Edwards to the Jaguars as recent as last week, traded Marshawn Lynch to Seattle Tuesday, but was still favored to win at Ralph Wilson Stadium because Jacksonville doesn’t seem to perform well n the road. However, with all the odds against them David Garrad left Buffalo 0-5 with a 10 point victory of 36-26.
Garrad passed for 178 yards with 3 touchdowns and completed 16-of-20 passes with 1 interception and a fumble. Kicker, Josh Scobee who kicked that amazing 59 yarder last week is still bringing in good numbers for Jacksonville, kicked a whopping 5 field goals yesterday with two from 49 yards. Mercedes Lewis scored two of Garrad’s touchdown passes, Maurice Jones-Drew ran 84 yards all to end the four-game road drought; Jaguars now 3-2.
Buffalo’s newly starting quarterback; Ryan Fitzpatrick, remains under pressure as his team hasn’t started a season at 0-5 since 1985. Yesterday, Fitzpatrick went 20-of-30 for 220 yards and 3 touchdowns all in 25:39 total time of possession.
As Bills safety, Donte Whitner says the Bills are “The laughingstock of the National Football League.” I feel for the team that loses to them this season, if there will be one!
